Meet Odin and Freyja, our two Khaki Campbell ducks. Odin’s regal presence keeps order in the chicken run. No matter the pecking order among our four hens, Odin commands civility, and calm is maintained.
Ducks love water, but Odin’s duck pond has been frozen for months now. However, within the chicken run is an old well where water flows even on the coldest days. The wind will blow, and temps remain in the single digits, yet this dug well from generations ago offers water at a balmy 45 degrees, steaming in this frigid environment. Not just comforting for the ducks, the chickens will stand ankle deep in the water, warming their feet.
